"Music and Media Legislation"

Do our public service channels live up to the demands concerning the presentation of Danish music? How do we take into account the competition from commercial radio stations? Where is the underground in the media? Where is live music on the radio and on TV? Will a new media act improve the presentation of the multitude of Danish music?

Kenneth Plummer
Director General of the Danish Broadcasting Company. Bachelor of Commerce and subsequently marketing chief at The Walt Disney Company Nordic A/S, managing director (Scandinavia / Northern Europe) of Mattel, later on managing director of Nordisk Film and member of the board of the Egmont Company – before becoming Director General.

Ellen Trane Nørby
Spokesperson on culture of Venstre – Denmark’s Liberal Party. MA in art history and involved in Venstre since 1995. President of LYMEC – Liberal and Radical Youth Movement of the European Union 2002-04. Other merits include teaching in the Balkans and Eastern Europe, and teaching young people in Mozambique about democracy and organisational structure.

Mogens Jensen
The Social Democrats’ spokesman on culture and media. Formerly a consultant and the secretary of culture in the trade union – LO. Received the Upper Secondary School Teachers’ Anniversary Award in 1995 for his work in the field of supplementary and adult education. A member of the board of the Bjørn Afzelius International Foundation of Culture.

Arne Würgler
Songwriter and chairman of the Danish songwriters and composers of DJBFA. On the board of KODA and chairman of CopyDan-Båndkopi. A prolific debater on the role of the media in relation to cultural diversity and the responsibility of the media for Danish music and the growth layer.





Knud Vilby moderator
Member of the Public Service Tribunal. A writer and a debater on public matters. Former editor in chief of the newspaper Information and deputy chief of the department of culture and society of The Danish Broadcasting Corporation. For a number of years chairman of MS – Danish Association for International Co-operation and of The Danish Writers’ Guild.
