Under Byen - Musikhuset, 3 June
- At the very last concert at the SPOT festival a grandiose show were to be expected in concert room of Musikhuset, with the black pearl of Århus, Under Byen, surrounded by light and visuals galore.

A quiet start with piano and saw rose in intensity surprisingly fast, into a chain of dark and hard hitting acts with beautiful melodies and tearing saws. Songs like “Legesag” and “Heftig” demonstrated Under Byens changing focus towards the harder, more rock-like parts of their repertoire, where noise overpowers fragility.

The richness of detail and the variations from song to song kept the concert from becoming tiring and repetitive, although an old fan missed the subdued and trembling songs of the past. Under Byen clearly is a stone with several facets.

Towards the end of the concert, Henriette Sennenvaldt stood in the centre of a rotating star of alternating black and white, and sang the words: “It looks like courage. But it isn’t. It’s something to live for. A mission…”. This five year old song could be about the uncompromising choices an artist must make, about living for art. A true highpoint of the concert with the usual intense singing, in unusually pompous surroundings.

After 11 years, Under Byen has finally surfaced, while keeping the artistic integrity uncompromised. Mission completed? Perhaps, but firm roots planted in the Nordic soil does not prevent Under Byen from reaching the sur- and sub faces of distant waters.
