Randi Laubek’s four albums are characterized by complex arrangements and ambitious production. For this reason it should be interesting to experience the songs adjusted to the simplistic trio format.
Laubek her self was relaxed and instantly connected with the audience telling strange but disarming anecdotes in the charming way only she can. Despite only two guitars and a bas, the sound was full and varied and the interplay between the trio members most impressive.
Laubek’s voice is in a league of its own receiving thundering applause in the middle of songs every time she sang at maximum volume. As a result the concert as a whole was the highlight of the evening, though ”You Changed Direction” the funky blues track ”What You Feel Like” stood out.
All expectations were met and Laubek definitely showed the way for many of the younger talents. |
