The Finnish/American band KTU left a standing euphoric ovation after their magnificent display of the spiritual power of music.

What do you call a fusion of surreal samples, staggering sounds from an accordion, technical brilliancy on a 14-stringed Warr-guitar and an equivalent amount of hypnotic drumming? Well, in this case it’s hard to describe as nothing less than the physical manifest of the very soul of music itself. Because I’m still not sure what hit me and the rest of the audience, when Kimmo Pohjonen (FI), Samuli Kosminen (FI), Pat Mastelotto(US) and Trey Gunn (US) entered the stage with their almost anti-musical rhythms, which refuse to surrender to conventional composition – although never in danger of sounding like the wet dream of a delirious music academy student.
Hopefully their live album ”8 Armed Monkey” will live up to the real deal, so I can turn back time to that night in Århus, where I first had the pleasure of experiencing KTU – and maybe then I’ll be able to explain the magic, otherwise you’ll just have to witness it yourself.
