Opening Night – With Room for Experiments
The SPOT Festival 2006 welcomes you to a multi-faceted opening night prior to the main 2 day event
– an opening which is the experimental night where we try out new ideas. This opening night won't
be different – three very different acts will reflect the work of ROSA:
- Opening concert in Musikhuset store sal, 19:00 hours: Lis Er Stille – talent presentation and experiment.
- Un-Pop Classik in Ridehuset, 20:00 hours: Exchange between four European festivals, breaking of borders – a classical ensemble accompanies three very different solo artists/bands.
- The Denmark-Canada-vice versa at Officerspladsen, 20:00 hours: Music export and exchange with two Canadian bands and Figurines in concert – as a 'reply' to the Danish campaign in North America.
Lis Er Stille
Musikhuset Store Sal – Thursday 1 June 19:00
A couple of excited teenagers made ROSA aware of Lis Er Stille. Then ROSA checked out the band during rehearsals, and hence, got the idea to present the music of Lis Er Stille as the festival's opening concert – in surroundings, which, through perfect sound and unique lighting, can enrich the picturesque music of the band. A daring chance, but: “I'm sure they will succeed. And it is necessary for us to keep experimenting with the form and content, and to take chances when it comes to music. Otherwise we won't evolve”, says Gunnar Madsen, managing director of ROSA.
Un-Pop Classik
Ridehuset – Thursday 1 June 20:00
Un-Pop Classik is a collaboration between four European festivals: SPOT, Eurockéennes (FR), Les Nuits Botaniques (BE) and the principal organizer Benicassim (ES). One solo artist/band from each country performs at the respective festivals with own material, but in new versions performed together with a classical ensemble from the country where the festival is held. In Denmark, Ensemble Midtvest will accompany Teitur (FO), Venus (BE), and Sunday Drivers (ES). The French have cancelled their SPOT performance.
Denmark-Canada-vice versa
Officerspladsen – Thursday 1 June 20:00
Exchange of networks and mutual promotion are important tools in MXD – Music Export Denmark and ROSA's work presenting Danish music internationally. After their success at Canadian Music Week in Toronto together with Kira & The Kindred Spirits, Pernille Gunvad, The Blue Van, and Tina Dickow, Figurines are back at SPOT alongside the two new Canadian bands Holy Fuck and Elliott Brood.

Free of admission – entry passes are available by Musikhuset two hours before the concerts starts.
20:00 Un-Pop Classik in Ridehuset, and Denmark-Canada-vice versa at Officerspladsen.

Holders of 2-day tickets have free admission.
Note! All the stages have limited capacity, which is why there is admission as long as there is still room.
