Kira & The Kindred Spirits – at SPOT

Kira & The Kindred Spirits will play at SPOT upon their Canadian success and with a new album under their belt: 'Kira Skov is the kind of rock diva that comes around once, maybe twice in a generation' – flattering words published in Canada's biggest newspaper The Globe and Mail after Kira & The Kindred Spirits' performance at Canadian Music Week in March.
And one month later, the rock quartet's third album 'Kira & The Kindred Spirits' got a warm welcome from the critics: '..a downright compelling harbinger of spring...(where)......Kira Skov found a new fervour in her vocal expression', said Erik Jensen from Politiken (five stars).
Pato is the final Danish act in the SPOT programme. Earlier this year, he released his debut album 'Music For Early Birds & Nighthawks' – an unusually tasty cocktail of hiphop, reggae, rock, and ska performed with audacity, talent, and originality. The first single immediately became a radio hit was 'Ugens Uundgåelige' on P3.
Two Swedish bands will complete the SPOT line-up: Headed by singer and guitarist Rickard Lindgren, Hell On Wheels' musical influence hinges upon the American and British indie scene of the late 80's and up. The rock trio has a new record out titled 'The Odd Church' – it's the band's third
album during the past 12 years where they have also played a number of concerts in Northern Europe.

The Norén brothers Victor and Carl are the point of rotation for Sugarplum Fairy: The five young Swedes, who see themselves as the 'missing link' between the British icons The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, offer catchy pop songs with a rock'n'roll attitude and a stage performance ample in charm and humour. Sugarplum Fairy will be presented at the SPOT Festival in association with the venue Train and the record company Universal Music – they will replace the Swedish band Johnossi who have cancelled their gig.
On a different note: The listed SPOT act Per Vers got a new dimension: The reggae-, funk- hip hop band Vincent Van Go Go will be the backing band for Per Vers at his concert – a collaboration that has sparked gripping concert experiences before.
This wraps up the music part of the SPOT programme, and this year's festival offers 103 concerts on 2-3 June 2006 in the festival area in and around Musikhuset Aarhus and Ridehuset along with Voxhall, Train, AroS, Århus Kunstbygning, and Svalegangen.
