Two Danish and two Norwegian songwriters and solo artists will perform with Norwegian Real Ones as backing when DR (The Danish Broadcasting Corporation) NRK (The Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation), and ROSA present the Danish/Norwegian radio project “Songwriting in red, white – and blue” for the second time in SPOT history.
Camille Jones and Rasmus Nøhr are the Danish artists whereas Marthe Valle and Thom Hell will represent Norway. The SPOT concert is part of a tour, the purpose of which is to introduce new musical talents in our neighbouring countries, both to each other and to the audience. The line of concerts will begin in Aalborg on June 1, and the SPOT concert is on June 2, followed by Copenhagen on June 3, after which the tour will continue in Norway – DR and NRK will air recordings from the concerts on the radio.
Rasmus Nøhr Career began: 2004 Latest album: "Lykkelig smutning”, 2006 www.skrapperas.dk
Once again the Copenhagen troubadour impresses everyone with his honest Danish-language tales of everyday life, which contain plenty of reflection and humour. The critically acclaimed Rasmus Nøhr, who plays pop ditties with elements of jazz, folk, swing, and blues, is often compared to Danish songwriter giants such as Kim Larsen and Søren Kragh-Jacobsen.
Camille Jones Career began: 2000 Latest album: “Surrender”, 2004 www.camillejones.com
Narrow genre definitions fail to cover the scope of Danish soul singer Camille Jones. She is soft r&b, raw guitar rock, pumping hip hop, and airy synth pop in equal proportions. Last year, she entered the top 20 of the American Billboard Dance Club Chart with her hit single ”The Creeps” - climbing higher than Madonna and Missy Elliot.
Marthe Valle (NO) Career began: 2004 Latest album: “It's A Bag Of Candy”, 2005 www.marthevalle.no
Norwegian Marthe Valle writes melancholy pop ballads with undercurrents of country and jazz. She is a mature and sophisticated songwriter with a voice so unspoiled and that you would swear it had never been used before. This combination earned her two nominations at the Spellemannsprisen (The Norwegian Grammy), of which she took home “Best Newcomer”.
Thom Hell (NO) Career began: 2003 Latest album: ”Every Little Piece”, 2006 www.thomhell.com
“Taking the art of song writing to great heights” – that was the Norwegian critics’ verdict on the melancholy songs in English on Thom Hell’s second album from 2006 – recorded in just seven days with The Love Connection. The critically acclaimed singer/songwriter comes to SPOT with just his guitar and his voice, which ranges from falsetto to deep bass.
Real Ones (NO) Career began: 1999 Latest album: “Home with the Girls in the Morning”, 2005 www.realones.no
Real Ones are an old-school rock band. The five guys have played together since their youth, and excel in a marvellously multi-facetted rock with clear references to 60s rock and folk. The Norwegian critics’ favourites of the last couple of years, and rumoured to be an amazing live act, the band feature as the backing band of this year’s Danish-Norwegian radio project.
