Canadian Elliot Brood play uncanny folk, piercing bluegrass, and gloomy roots – a style they call Death Country. The sombre ballads of popular legends, love and murder are told by a soaked voice, and the atmosphere is enhanced by banjo, lap steel and antiquarian organs. In their native country they have been labelled “Canada's Breakout Band of 2006".
